Purpose

The mainstream fast furniture industry has had a significant negative impact on our environment and communities. Many mass-produced pieces are made with cheap, chemically treated materials, including formaldehyde, flame retardants, PFAS and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can off-gas harmful toxins and dust into our homes. The rapid production and disposal cycle of fast furniture contribute to massive amounts of landfill waste, often with non-biodegradable components like plastics, synthetic fabrics, and chemical coatings. Additionally, the industry's reliance on resource-intensive manufacturing processes leads to increased pollution, deforestation, and a larger carbon footprint. As a result, our air, water, and communities bear the burden of a culture focused on quick, disposable products over sustainable, long-lasting alternatives.

As a result of consumer pressure, the manufacturing industry is already becoming part of the solution with many eco-friendly, recycled and non-toxic materials being manufactured and created everyday.

I welcome the opportunity to introduce some of these new materials as well as historical, pre-plastic era materials into your project without sacrificing style or comfort.
